I am writing to you on behalf of Jesiah Bell as he seeks admission to your PhD program. Jesiah was a student in my nationally recognized Design program at Kentridge High School. During those years Jesiah exhibited the most extraordinary combination of creative thought process, artistic skill and academic excellence that I have encountered in my 19 years as a Graphic Deisgn/Art teacher. He also represented the state of Washington at the National VICA competition. Since high school, Jesiah has completed his BA in Graphic Design with the University of Washington, traveled and taught abroad and made his primary living with his graphic design talent. Based
on my personal and professional relationship with Jesiah and my knowledge
of his work, I am convinced he will enrich and advance the Digital Arts
and Experimental Media fields. Further, his academic bent will serve
him well as he dives into the graduate-level study and reflection that
is so integral to your program, Perhaps the most important of Jesiah’s
capabilities are the human attributes he’ll bring to your community
of learners. He has a gift for unifying a group through his kindness
and humor, and he brings out the best in the work of others by being
highly supportive yet honest. Glenn D. Walrond |
