The client wanted to attract a younger audience to the theater. The plays focused on comedic themes. A design was needed that attracted and interested an audience that may have never attended a play before. They wanted to bring the community back into the theater, and prove that it's fun.

A wall of built up and torn down posters full of staples and corners of ripped paper became the inspiration for the tone of the poster series. Initially 4 small posters were designed, laser printed, distressed with water, wrinkling, creasing, and tearing, then taken to the weathered wall for photographing.

The poster advertising 4 plays served the client for most of the season. It also served as a familiar background when select plays were featured.

A particularly fun one was Angry Housewives, a play about 4 "average" housewives that decide to spice up their life by forming a punk-rock band. That theme gave me a chance to do some creative illustration with cut up magazines.

The mailer is double sided, 4 panels, 2 colors, designed for bulk rate mailing. Several thousand were made.

The client was pleased, and in turn made positive references to our shop, which led to new work.
